Saturday is crop day!

So yesterday was crop day for me. I host a regular, once a month, scrapbooking crop in Shrewsbury and it happened yesterday.

All my scrapping friends were there and we had a great time eating chocolate cake catching up on each others news and scrapbooking of course.

I always prepare  a kit for the girls who want one. This month I used the new Simple Stories Domestic Bliss papers and they went down very well. On the one layout I tried a bit of thread winding to create a dream-catcher. Something I have wanted to do for a long time, it went down very well though it did test the patience of a few ladies while they were creating it.

Here are the two layouts from the kit.

I also completed 3 pages for Billy's school album which I am endeavouring to complete this year. Billy is now in year seven but I am still scrapping his nursery pictures. I am happy that all the ones from his infant school are complete but then I have the Junior department to start and finish  and thats four years worth!!

until next time A x

Here I go again!!

So after many years I am suddenly aware that I haven't updated this blog in years. I have no excuses other than being busy with other things like work, house, Billy etc and sad to say that other than the odd holiday to Tunisia, Pembroke and Jersey not much has happened either.

Today I was asked to post a link to my blog .....and that set me thinking. Yes I have a blog but why don't I use it???  Probably because I have no idea about what to blog let alone how to blog. So I am hereby setting myself another challenge to blog more often and hopefully I will learn how to blog a bit better along the way. if anyone can help  - please do all help will be appreciated.

As a scrapbooker I was always told to start with the present and work backwards so I will apply the same rule to this blog entry and start by showing you my latest layouts.

I love seeing how Billy Photo Bombed this picture of my sister and her husband, taken at our New Years Eve party a few years ago. Nobody knew he was there until we had the photos printed!!

This second layout is from our family holiday to Tunisia a couple of years ago. We had a great time but it was so so hot.

I cannot take credit for these layouts as they were from a class by Denise Holmes at Crop in the Country last year. I didn't do her class but I bought the kit. They are my 'twist' on Denise's lovely class and I really enjoyed doing them.

Powered By Imagination

Our inspiration at the crop last month came from Michelle Overton. MIchelle had created a delightful little flip book which was great for using up scraps and loads of embellishments.

I thought I would do mine about Billy, who else?  I have always been fascinated by the way he can pick up anything and use his imagination to turn it in to a car, a rocket, a plane or whatever else he fancies at the time.

So I gathered all the photos I could find of him playing and dressing up and these pics are the result of a few days at the craft table.

So thank you Michelle, your inspiration worked a treat. I really enjoyed the ease of this album. Everything came together so easily and quickly and it is a finished project!

The paper bag book.

Well half term didn't quite go as plannned but as promised I have done a mini book since my last post.

I made this one out of brown paper bags. It was vey easy to do though it was quite time consuming covering the pages with patterned paper.

As this book will form part of my Disney collection I have tried to stick with the Disney colours of red, yellow, black and white.

As each bag is folded a pocket is formed so I have made a square tag to go in each pocket.

Of course the backs of the tags are just as important as the fronts.

It was a fun book to make and holds quite a lot of photos. I will also be able to put our tickets and brochures, day passes etc into the pockets to keep it all together.

I love those bling white gloves!

If you have enjoyed looking at my paper bag book why not leave me a comment. Better still
if you would like to make your own paper bag book why not come along to my August Workshop as I will be revisiting paper bag books for those of you who missed the class first time around.

They are really fun and easy to make!

Thanks for reading

The Show Goes On

I have agonised over this blog and whether to resurect it or not now that Skrapz is no more. I have no idea who comes to look at it or what I shall be posting but I have decided to get it going again purely for my own purposes.

So with half term begining today I shall aim to post one of my little projects by the end of the week. If nothing else I should learn a whole lot more about this blogging lark and how to do it properly.

Until later A x
